The City of St. Petersburg has passed plastic straw and polystyrene regulations that will take full effect in 2020. The Suncoast Rise Above Plastics Coalition is proud of our city and its leadership, but our work here is not done! We want these ordinances to be successful, and to benefit everybody. As such, we are working to provide outreach to local businesses to make the transition easy, informed, and cost efficient.

To do that we need as many business-and-ocean-loving boots on the ground as possible. Do you love supporting local businesses? Do you love making change in your community? Come out to Pinellas Ale Works and learn how to make a difference.

On the Agenda:

  • A breakdown of the ordinance and what it means.
  • Full training on how to approach a business, what to say, and how to support them.
  • Resources to share with businesses detailing alternatives and their availability.
  • A run-down of the Ocean Friendly Restaurant program, should a business ask questions or be interested in learning about it. Break out into small working groups.
  • Each group will have a lead who will offer further support and resources, and answer questions.
  • Working with group leads to assign businesses.
  • Heading out the door with everything you need to succeed, and a full support network behind you.
  • Also delicious beer, and a chance to meet new people who are as passionate about this city as you are!
